Normal silk satin, crepe de chine, double georgette and other common silk fabrics can be washed by hand, but it should be take much care when washing as following steps:
Step 1 -- Choose the right detergent
Remember, must not use alkaline detergent, we usually use laundry detergent at home, washing powder is generally alkaline. Alkali is the biggest enemy of silk, will make silk hard, yellow, brittle. Choose neutral detergents or shampoos to wash because silk is made of protein, just like our hair.
Step 2 -- Control the appropriate water temperature and soaking time
Real silk products must be washed at room temperature, not more than 30 degrees Celsius, soaking time should be controlled within 15 minutes, otherwise it will cause real silk being yellow or fade.
Step 3 -- Pay attention to hand washing method and strength
Hand washing can not be rubbed, can only be used by pressing or carrying washing, can also be gently wiped with a soft towel, washing strength can not be too large. Satin silk fabrics are best washed from the reverse side, because the front side is bright and the warp or weft float line is long and easy to damage.
Step 4 -- Use adjuvants
Proper amount of vinegar or lemon can be added when washing, which can prevent hardening of silk and solidify color.
Step 5 -- Dry
The light resistance of Real silk is poor, It becomes yellow and feel harc after absorbing ultraviolet ray. So when drying, must avoid direct sunlight, and dry in the shade the inside facing out and can not be twisted dry, should gently shake open, tile dry in the shade , can not use the dryer, low temperature iron when 80% dry.
